TCP/IP SETTING MANUAL

Image
TCP/IP Setting Manual Understanding IP Addresses Each IP address consists of a network ID and a host ID. The network ID, also known as the network address, identifies the systems that are located on the same physical network. All computers in the same physical network must have the same network ID, and the network ID must be unique to the internetwork. The host ID, also known as the host address, identifies each TCP/IP host within a network. IP addresses are logical 32-bit numbers that are broken down into four 8-bit fields known as octets. Microsoft TCP/IP supports class A, B, and C addresses. The class addresses define which bits are used for the network ID and which bits are used for the host ID. Configuring Windows clients for TCP/IP involves installing and configuring the TCP/IP network protocol. Configuring TCP/IP on Windows 10 The following instructions are based on the Configuring TCP/IP function of Windows 10. 1. In search engine, type in control panel and open. 2. Click ...

SUBNETTING CALCULATION

Image
Subnetting Calculation What is Subnet?? Subnets are a type of network that allows an organisation to have a large square of addresses without having to create many organisations or split the addresses into subnets. The rest of the world considers the affiliation to be a single factor. Nonetheless, there are a few subnets on the inside. All messages are sent from the router address, which connects the connection to the rest of the Internet; the router then routes the message to the appropriate subnets. In this section, we are expecting to to show calculation on how to identify the IP address that was assigned for the  OnlineLearning System Server based on the information given in the project scenario.   Let's Use Fixed-Length Subnet Mask (FLSM) as an example : Based on the given scenario, we choose class C and class A respectively for home network and Cobham College Campus network and assume that Cobham College Campus has 5 department including IT Center, therefore there will ...

OSI LAYER MODEL

Image
OSI Layer Model What is OSI model? The OSI model is a layered framework for the design of network systems which established in 1947 by the The International Standards Organization(ISO) that allows communication between all types of computer systems. An ISO that standard covers all aspect of network communications is the Open Systems Interconnection(OSI) model. It consists of seven separate but related layers, each of which defines a part of the process of moving information across a network.   Explanation on how the data travels from the Studnet's computer to reach the OnlineLearning System server which is in the Cobham College IT Center by using OSI model. Student’s computer Cobham College IT center Layer 7: Application Layer The OSI model's topmost layer is the Application layer. This is the sole layer that interacts directly with user data. With the use of protocols, the application layer delivers services for network applications. ...
